Matt Higa

I was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii — a place recognized as both a lush tropical metropolis and an extinction capital of the world. It is because of this duality that I developed a sensitivity to the interaction between the manmade form and natural habitats that characterize this place I call home.
Naturally curious, I ask questions and approach projects with sensitive, functional, and practical design solutions. Currently, I am a student researcher at the UHM School Of Architecture Community Design Center and am interested in learning more about phytoremediation, coastal resilience, and watershed management.
In my spare time I am likely catching up with family and friends, improving my drone maneuvering skills, or making lei.
